Good News for Tea Baggers & Anarchists

Who me not posting enough?! True.

Saw the headlines today: "Atlantic Divide: Europe and US Disagree on Continued Simulus Spending."

What's in it for Tea Baggers and anarchists? Tea Baggers want Obama to stop deficit/stimulus spending, and anarchists want to smash the system. Well, Europe is poised to stop stimulus spending and that very well could accelerate the crumbling of the system.

The UK Independent reports:

[German] Chancellor Angela Merkel flatly rejected warnings from President Barack Obama that Europe's attempts to save its way out of the debt crisis could put fragile global economic growth in danger.

Not to get into nerdy economics, but the track record from the US Great Depression and the Japanese malaise of the 1990s indicates that deficit spending to prop up a flagging economy has merit. However, the debate on both sides is a bit moot. Stimulus spending might work, but it would probably just prolong the inevitable.

My judgment is that the US has crossed the Rubicon; the US is now a great power in decline. It has been going that way for decades... Detroit, MI and surrounding area is a stark case-in-point, but books are filled with all sorts of statistics on the decline in manufacturing, jobs, income, etc..

Now, with Europe cutting the spigot of stimulus spending, and putting the screws to the needy in the face of the rich getting richer, the Tea Baggers can say "What's good enough for Europe is good enough for the US," and the anarchists can sit back and smile as the establishment system teeters.

Tea Baggers Say "No Federal Role in Education"

It's true. I heard a Tea Party activist say the feds have no role in education; should be a state function only.

OK, in that case, I'd like to see the elected Teabagger turn back the money that Obama is proposing to direct to the states.

President Barack Obama will offer $900 million in grants to states and school districts to turn around low-performing schools ...

When you consider that the $900 million would go very far in helping state and local governments, help maintain jobs prevent further economic stagnation, and only equates to maybe a week of the cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, it gives a little perspective to the often simplistic views of the Tea Party hierarchy.

CDC & WHO Brought to you by... Taxes

In Episode 11 of GDAE Podcast, I touched on the recent anti-tax teabagger rallies. Tipped off by WakeUp AM Podcast, I echoed the following ironic observation:

A [teabagger] group assembled in Portsmouth New Hampshire PUBLIC square. It's a bit ironic to see anti-tax protesters making use of a public square maintained by ... taxes.

The electricity for the rally's PA systems, the clean-up crews following the rallies, medical emergency technicians standing by ... just in case..., the roads leading to the event all paid for with taxes. We can go on listing the food and Drug Administration, Centers or Disease Control, Federal Aviation Administration... the US military, all of which, except maybe the last one, give us a sense of security often taken for granted.

I wasn't aware of the swine flu outbreak when I mentioned the Centers for Disease Control.
